Holiday Baking

Okay, so I didn't bake the gingerbread cookies and cut them into shapes to build a house...I bought a kit. But I did get into my car, drive the .2 miles down the road to the Dollar General to get it...which is almost as much work as baking the cookies myself.

I thought J would have fun with this, and well, I thought I might too.

At first she only cared about putting her fingers in the icing and licking them...

But she finally got into the decorating part...in between eating pieces of the candy....

She kept asking if she could eat it. So when it was finished I told her she could...and this is what she did....

Here's our finished product. I'm going to be honest. I had SO MUCH fun doing this. I think we'll do one every year!

Here's her first big bite! She loved getting to eat the house.

Later that evening we baked a Sugar Cookie. Yes, I said A sugar cookie. It was getting close to bedtime and I didn't want to attack more than one--but we did a big one!

The icing we made...which was YUMO--

Here's the snowman cookie cooking away...

She had to make a phone call while she waiting on the cookie to cook!

Her favorite part, of course. She LOVED "painting" the cookie!! She could have done this all night!

She had a little help--I tried to put a scarf on him, but it ended up looking like someone cut his throat...opps!

She eventually ate part of him and then painted the plate....the girl loves to paint!

So that was our day on Thursday, it was fun! We have a very busy fun filled weekend planned of staying home and doing next to nothing!! :-) I don't want to get out and mess with the madness that is the weekend before Christmas. I do have to go get a couple things though, which I'm dreading!

So, wonder who J called when she took that break to use the phone? Me too...but here's what she said...isn't she hysterical. She's really into pretending lately--like very elaborately, very creatively. She used a necklace last night to listen to BJ's heart. I think she saw the doctor do it to Hayden at his appointment....she's so observant. anyway here's the video!

What a great gingerbread house! You two did a wonderful job! I've never been brave enough. Darn my perfectionist tendencies - I'm so not a fun mom! Such cute pictures!
